Vigilant PPS20Y 125dB Personal Attack Self Defense Alarm with Red Flashing Locator Light Overview
The PPS20Y is a self defense personal alarm that features a 125dB pin activated emergency alarm. Pulling the pin generates an attention getting, high pitched alarm for up to 30 minutes. Replacing the pin is the only way to silence the alarm. The PPS20Y also has a small, red flashing light, aimed at providing short range directional location for the alarm in the event that the alarm is activated in a low light area. The flashing light can be used independently of the alarm, but also automatically activates if the alarm is triggered. Visibility range of the light is approximately 20 yards at 1 lux brightness (near pitch black conditions), so it is intended merely to aid the alarm with a visual indicator at short distances.
Personal alarms are one of the fastest growing segments at retail in the self defense industry, because an attacker's worst enemy is attention. Personal alarms are legal to carry in all 50 states (even on airplanes!) and are a very safe method of self defense. They require no training or skill to operate, and can be used by anyone regardless of age or physical ability.
